Keynote Presenters Kevin W Knight AMChairman, ISO/PC 262 - Risk Management Kevin Knight is a founding member of the Standards Australia/Standards New Zealand Joint Technical Committee that produced the original AS/NZS 4360 Risk Management Standard in 1995 and its subsequent revisions in 1999 and 2004. He chaired the ISO Working Group that developed the new ISO 31000:2009 Risk Management Standard and the ISO Guide 73:2009. He currently Chairs ISO/PC 262 - Risk Management. Kevin was made member of the Order of Australia in 2008 for service to risk management and is well known in over 25 countries for his papers, lectures, seminars and workshops on the use of Risk Management Standards.
Professor Dennis ElseGroup General Manager, Sustainability Safety & Health, Brookfield Mutliplex Limited Professor Dennis Else, was Chair of the Australian National Occupational Health and Safety Commission through the six years 1996 to 2002. During that time he built support for a ten year National OHS Strategy which was endorsed by all State and Territory Ministers, the ACTU and the ACCI. Since 2007 he has coupled his long association with the University of Ballarat in the academic role of Professor of Occupational Health and Safety with the practical challenges as Group General Manager of Sustainability, Safety and Health with Brookfield Multiplex. He is a strong advocate of the synergies between productivity, quality and prevention and the opportunity sustainability and safety provide as vehicles for building innovative and inspiring high performance workplaces. He has a physics degree from the University of Salford(UK) and a PhD in psychoacoustics from Aston University(UK).
Tracey BrowneManager, National OHS Policy and Membership Services, Ai Group Tracey is part of Ai Group's national team focusing on Occupational Health and Safety and Workers Compensation; the team provides membership, consulting and training services across the full range of OHS and workers compensation issues. Tracey's current role in Ai Group is two-fold: Firstly, to ensure that member views and interests, related to OHS and workers compensation, are represented to government, regulators and other relevant bodies, when legislative and policy changes are being considered, and to initiate change where appropriate. A major focus of this work at present relates to the development of the National Model Work Health and Safety Laws. Tracey represents Ai Group on a number of tripartite bodies including Safe Work Australia's Strategic Issues Group which is overseeing the development of the Model WHS laws. Secondly, to ensure that members are provided with practical information and advice about their OHS and workers compensation obligations, to aid compliance and assist businesses to achieve best practice. Prior to joining Ai Group Tracey has held management positions in Human Resources, Occupational Health and Safety and Workers Compensation management, particularly in the manufacturing sector. Tracey holds a Bachelor of Business in Personnel Management and a Master of Applied Science in Occupational Health and Safety.
Mario MachadoManager, National OHS Consulting Services, Ai Group Mario has over 13 years experience in Safety, Risk Management & Environmental Management. Prior to joining Ai Group, Mario held the position of Director - Safety & Environment at Willis Australia Ltd. Mario has undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications in environmental management, industrial chemistry and safety management. Mario commenced his professional career working as an environmental management specialist and occupational hygienist assisting organisations manage highly technical and specialist OHS and environmental related issues. Over the course of his career, Mario's experience evolved to assisting organisations address strategic and management related issues associated with both safety and environment. He has specialised in the management of safety and has substantial leadership experience across many high profile and complex engagements. Mario has experience assisting organisations identify areas for improvement and then establish strategies to address them taking into account change management, culture improvement, safety systems and processes, and technical hazard management.
